Orient Star Khiva Hotel- Madrasah Muhammad Aminkhan 1855, Khiva

The hotel rooms were interesting, generally well-appointed, very clean, and had a lovely small balcony offering fabulous sunset views. However, there was an issue with a not-so-pleasant smell in the room in the evening. The service was good overall, with a few areas for improvement. The location was within the old city, very close to all sights, but the mattresses could be more comfortable and the wifi should be improved. The dining options were limited and not very vegetarian-friendly. The facilities offered were average, with room for enhancement.

My stay at the hotel was a mixed experience. The location was amazing, right within the Khiva old city fortress next to the main gate, making it easy to explore the old town. The rooms, although clean, had some serious issues like filthy conditions and malfunctioning amenities. Service was really helpful overall, but pricing for taxis was unreasonable. The dining was not up to par with poor quality and service, although the location itself was stunning. The hotel had some good facilities, but there were noticeable downsides like lack of drinking water provided.

The location of the hotel is unbeatable within the old city walls of Khiva, making it very convenient to access all main attractions. The rooms, though closer to inside cabins than traditional hotel rooms, lack basic amenities like proper lighting and storage for toiletries, leading to a somewhat disappointing stay. The service is attentive and helpful, despite the high prices for taxi services. The dining experience, located in a separate former madrasah adjacent to the hotel, falls short of expectations for the self-proclaimed best hotel in town.
